Officer Says Military Blocked Sharing of Files on Terrorists

One more piece of a puzzle that is piece by piece, more clearly showing that the Bush administration knew of an attack and let it proceed so as to galvanize support for PNAC and the suspension of our own cvil liberties.

Officer Says Military Blocked Sharing of Files on Terrorists

08/17/05 'New York Times' -- WASHINGTON, Aug. 16 - A military intelligence team repeatedly contacted the F.B.I. in 2000 to warn about the existence of an American-based terrorist cell that included the ringleader of the Sept. 11 attacks, according to a veteran Army intelligence officer who said he had now decided to risk his career by discussing the information publicly.

The officer, Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, said military lawyers later blocked the team from sharing any of its information with the bureau.

Colonel Shaffer said in an interview on Monday night that the small, highly classified intelligence program, known as Able Danger, had identified the terrorist ringleader, Mohamed Atta, and three other future hijackers by name by mid-2000, and tried to arrange a meeting that summer with agents of the Washington field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to share its information.

But he said military lawyers forced members of the intelligence program to cancel three scheduled meetings with the F.B.I. at the last minute, which left the bureau without information that Colonel Shaffer said might have led to Mr. Atta and the other terrorists while the Sept. 11 attacks were still being planned."

Yo... you might check again to see who was in the White House in the summer of 2000.

So? They first determined who Atta was by then mid-2000, but Clinton is out of office shortly thereafter. You conveniently forget that Bush was in office all during the time that they were trying to get someone to pay attention prior to them prior to Sept.2001,more than a year later! But what's even more sleazy is that they've been lying about their foreknowledge ever since. How can you possibly accuse Clinton of being involved in the cover-up, which is the real crime here.

Geez, the lengths people will go to to keep from having to admit that they believed Bushes when he was lying to them is simply amazing.

Hey.... How could you know prior to the fact that the guy was a pathological liar? But fine. Now the proof is out there. It's everywhere. Join the parade and leave Bush behind. He is going to be a humiliation to American history, and the sooner you get out from under his shadow, the more pride you'll be able to save for yourself.
